Make your college experience all it can be! Enroll in University 101, USC's nationally recognized program that helps first-year students successfully transition to college.
A Path to Success
For nearly 40 years, we've been assisting new students like you to get to know USC's campus and facilities, discover our outstanding academic resources, make new friends, grow more comfortable with interpersonal and professional communication and develop practical skills in time management, critical thinking, research and writing.
Small Classes, Great Opportunities
Within a small U101 class of 18 to 22 of your peers, you'll find others just like yourself who are new to USC and who want to succeed in college. You'll learn how to:
- Improve your opportunities for academic success.
- Explore and connect with the University, our community and the city of Columbia.
- Prepare to live a responsible life.
In addition to readings that may include everything from novels, newspapers, textbooks, magazine articles, online sources or library materials, your U101 instructor and peer leader may encourage you to explore topics that range from financial literacy and stress management to campus involvement and safety, learning styles, cultural diversity, alcohol and drug issues, career exploration, study abroad opportunities, sustainability and current events.
Give yourself a solid foundation for success at USC by enrolling in University 101.
Research shows students in U101 earn higher first-year grades and feel more satisfied with college than those who don't enroll.
