Summer (May, June, July) and Fall (August) 2010 Semesters:

November 15, 2009 EXTENDED DEADLINE -- November, 23, 2009: South Carolina Honors College and Top Scholars Application Deadline
Submit your completed Honors/Scholars application* along with your general University application by November 23rd in order to be considered for the SC Honors College and for the University’s most prestigious merit scholarships, including Carolina, McNair, and Alumni Scholars awards. Mailed credentials such as counselor evaluation forms, transcripts, and letters of recommendation must be postmarked by this date. If you meet this deadline you will receive notification of your University admissions decision the week of December 14. You may also receive your decision on Honors College admission at the same time. If not, then we will send your Honors decision no later than February 15.

*A completed application includes: a University application, a $50 nonrefundable application fee, an Honors College and Top Scholars application, and all credentials, such as official high school transcript(s), official test scores sent directly from the testing service, and two recommendation letters.

December 1, 2009: Priority Application Deadline
To ensure full and equal consideration for the summer or fall 2010 semester, you must submit your completed application** by December 1. Decisions for applications received or postmarked by this date will be released during the week of March 15. Applications received after this date will only receive consideration if space remains available.

Applicants who meet the December 1 deadline will be automatically considered for all University scholarships with the exception of Carolina, McNair, and Alumni Scholars awards. These three awards require completion of the Honors College/Top Scholars application by November 15.

**A completed application includes: an application, a $50 nonrefundable application fee (or qualified fee waiver for SC residents only), and all credentials, such as official high-school transcript(s) and official test scores sent directly from the testing service.

December 14, 2009: Early Answer Decision Week Begins
Decisions regarding University admission status will be released during the week of December 14 for all applicants who fully comply with the October 15 or November 15 deadlines (see above for details). Applicants may be admitted, denied, or delayed until the week of March 15.

February 1, 2010: Credentials Deadline
All credentials and accompanying application materials, including official test scores, high-school transcripts, and your $50 application fee (or fee waiver for qualifying S.C. residents only) must be received by February 1. Applications for which credentials are received after February 1 will be considered on a space-available basis.

February 15, 2010: SC Honors College Notification
All offers of admission to the South Carolina Honors College will be made by February 15.

March 15, 2010: Priority Application Decision Week Begins
Decisions will be released during the week of March 15 for students who applied by December 1 and who also meet the February 1 Credentials deadline.

PAST DEADLINES

October 15, 2009: Early Answer Application Deadline
If you submitted your completed application by this date, we will mail your decision letter during December 14 Early Answer Week. It is not uncommon for a significant portion of our applicants to receive delay notification, so don’t worry if your decision is delayed. As an Early Answer applicant, you will benefit from knowing all your required materials are submitted in plenty of time to ensure full consideration, and you also have more time to send us updated credentials later if necessary. If you applied by the early answer deadline, you will not receive an advantage in the decision process, just the assurance of an earlier response.

*A completed application includes: an application, $50 nonrefundable application fee (or qualified fee waiver for SC residents only), and all credentials, such as official high-school transcript(s) and official test scores sent directly from the testing service.
