Burnet Rhett Maybank

Burnet Rhett Maybank, a Charleston businessman and Charleston mayor from 1931 to 1938, served South Carolina as Governor from 1939 to 1941, and later as Senator from 1941 until his death in 1954.

Maybank was elected in September 1941 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of James F. Byrnes. The scrapbook covers part of Maybank's term in the Senate.
