ACT Prep Live Online Course

Prepare for the ACT with UofSC's comprehensive online course led by a live instructor. You'll get all the interactivity of traditional classroom learning with one big plus—the comfort and convenience of being able to learn at home. All of the sessions are recorded which gives you an opportunity to watch them at a later date.

The instructor was extremely helpful and I feel much more prepared to take the test!

Learn from Anywhere

Our live online course is just like being in a classroom without traveling to our campus. No matter where you live in or outside of the country, you will have the opportunity to take the course online using Adobe Connect software. All you will need is access to a computer with the internet, speakers or headphones, and Adobe Flash Player, which can be downloaded for free. Best of all, it won't require pricey software, new hardware or advanced computer skills.

You'll regularly meet your instructor online in a live interactive classroom setting and have access to office hours in case you have additional questions. The course sessions are recorded so you can watch and review the material from previous sessions, up to 30 days after the course ends.

This affordable and comprehensive course is offered in an easy live online format multiple times per year right before the ACT test date. The class meets on a regular schedule with each class lasting two to four hours. We recommend signing up to take the ACT exam when you sign up for our prep class and taking the ACT exam after the prep class ends.

This ACT online course is ideal for students that need an intensive preparation program during the school year who wish to develop essential test-taking tools. It is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to succeed on the ACT and students are expected to actively participate in class.

About the Course

Our expert instructors guide you through each section of the ACT exam and provide personal attention in and out of the classroom. You'll cover all of the Science, Math, English, and Verbal skills needed for success by learning useful study and test-taking strategies and time management skills to help limit test anxiety.  The easy to follow program uses proven techniques to simplify the ACT.  Our comprehensive program emphasizes the ACT test components including test taking strategies, question formats, process of elimination, math, reading, and writing and language. Students receive in-depth review of the exam materials, insight into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests, and a comprehensive study plan.  Class sessions use real test questions to show just how these skills are tested.

This online course includes 16 hours of instruction and covers the same material as our classroom format: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional writing section.

Course materials including instructions on how to access your account, The Official ACT Prep Guide textbook and workbook will be shipped to you prior to the first class.

The Online Experience

It isn't unusual to have questions about online learning. We've answered some of the most common here for you. If you have additional questions or need more information, you can ask an expert.

The live-online course is very similar to the classroom format. We use the same curriculum and materials, and the same proven strategies to help you succeed on the exam. You're able to interact with your instructor in a live setting and participate in the class through the use of online technology.

The live-online class uses software called Adobe Connect. This software allows you to view and hear the instructor, share documents, and interact with the instructor and other students. While the instructor uses a microphone to broadcast voice over Internet protocol (VOIP), students do not need a microphone or camera to participate. Students can simply type questions and answers into a chat box. Some modules also feature quizzes.

Most online classes are asynchronous, meaning they're pre-recorded or prepared in advance. Students work through the classes at their own pace or are provided with a new module to review on their own each week. Live-online classes are led by a live instructor who is there to teach the class and answer questions in real-time; just like in a traditional classroom setting.

All you need to participate in the live-online class is access to high speed internet on a computer with speakers (or headphones).  Our virtual classroom application is Adobe Connect.  We recommend that you run a diagnostic test to ensure Adobe Connect will run smoothly on your computer.  Please use this link to run this diagnostic test on the computer you plan to use for the course.

The live-online class supports interaction with instructors and other students in many ways. You'll be able to ask questions and make comments using the chat feature. In addition, the course will utilize quiz features that allow you to answer questions. You will also have access to your instructor by phone and email, just as you would in a traditional classroom setting.

The live sessions will be recorded and available for streaming. The streaming video will be available shortly after the scheduled meeting date and will be accessible for 30 days after the session.

No. The class includes the same textbook and workbook as the traditional classroom course. A copy of the textbook and workbook will be available for pick up at our office or will be mailed to you about one week before the class begins.
