Our Leadership

The Division of Administration and Finance is led by a team of university officials who oversee dozens of offices and hundreds of services related to university operations, finance, communications, facilities and transportation.

Ed Walton

Senior Vice President for Administration and Chief Operating Officer

Ed Walton coordinates planning and activities across nonacademic areas of the university. The Division of Administration and Finance oversees the areas of business affairs, communications and marketing, economic engagement, facilities and transportation, finance, government and community relations, law enforcement and safety.

Derrick Huggins

Vice President for Facilities and Transportation

Derrick Huggins is responsible for university buildings and infrastructure, transportation and parking services. He provides leadership for the day-to-day operational oversight of skilled trades, housekeeping services, landscaping, preventive maintenance and warehouse operations.

Leslie Brunelli

Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Leslie Brunelli coordinates the day-to-day and long-term planning of the financial operations of the university. She oversees the compilation of financial and budget reporting and is responsible for implementing financial policies established by trustees. Areas under this office include the controller, budget, bursar and capital finance.

Wes Hickman

Director of Communications and Public Affairs and Chief Communications Officer

Wes Hickman is the university’s spokesman and leads the team that tells the stories of our students, faculty and staff. Those stories are shared with the general public through the news media, our own printed publications and our digital communications.

Christopher Wuchenich

Associate Vice President for Law Enforcement and Safety/Chief of Police

Chris Wuchenich is tasked with providing a safe and secure environment for our campus community. He manages the university's law enforcement, risk management, compliance and professional standards and environmental health and safety.

Helen Zeigler

Associate Vice President for Business Affairs

Helen Zeigler oversees the Office of Business Affairs, which manages a variety of different university units, including purchasing, CarolinaCard and trademark and licensing. The office also manages numerous student resources, such as the campus bookstore, post office, food services and ATM services.

Derrick R. Meggie

Director of State Government Relations

Derrick Meggie leads community-building and outreach efforts while encouraging support of the university. The office also serves as the university's liaison to local and state government and the community.

Bill Kirkland

Director of Economic Engagement

Bill Kirkland leads the Office of Economic Engagement, which connects businesses, industry and entrepreneurs to university resources. Through his office's endeavors, new businesses can partner with our top-tier research institution to cultivate new ideas and build successful enterprises.
