OneCarolina saw many successes in 2013

It’s safe to say that 2013 was a banner year for OneCarolina.

Significant go-lives? Check. Following in the footsteps of admissions, which launched in 2012, three large implementations went live this year - financial aid, class records and registration, and bill payment - radically improving the way the university does business on a day-to-day basis.

Key milestones? Another check. The first phase of OneCarolina is winding down and formally concludes in early 2014. On top of that, the Board of Trustees just recently gave the green light to begin Phase Two. Work has already begun on the comprehensive overhaul of the university system's finance, payroll, and human resources infrastructure, which is expected to go live beginning in 2015.

But for now, the focus is on 2013 and the ways in which OneCarolina’s web-based applications, which include Self Service Carolina, allow students, faculty, and staff to easily perform the things essential to the university experience, like apply for admission and register for classes.

Using Self Service Carolina, in 2013:

  • Over 46,000 students registered for more than 200,000 class sections
  • Over $582 million in financial aid was awarded
  • Over 62,000 applications for admission were submitted

In total, Self Service Carolina has been accessed close to 2.6 million times since it went live in the spring. That number is expected to be even bigger in 2014, in what will be the system’s first full year of operation.
