Student accounts now active in Self Service Carolina as OneCarolina hits another goal

In what marks yet another significant accomplishment for the OneCarolina project, students and parents now have the ability to view and pay tuition bills for the fall using Self Service Carolina (SSC).  The functionality was added recently as part of a bigger SSC upgrade, which introduced several new financial and account-related options for students and parents.

“We’re extremely pleased with the fact that students now have the option to manage their student account from within Self Service Carolina,” said University Bursar Janis Hoffman. “I would like to especially thank my team. Everyone pulled together to accomplish this milestone, working tirelessly in hopes of exceeding expectations of both our students and parents.”

After signing in, students will see a new menu option in SSC called Account Information. Previously, students used VIP to view and pay their bill. Using SSC, they’ll now be able to:

  • Access a complete and intuitive account summary to see what’s been paid and what’s due
  • Designate another authorized user, such as a parent, full access to their account, allowing them to view and pay bills
  • Sign up for direct deposit
  • Make optional payments as needed

What’s more, financial aid now automatically applies to a student’s account once they have completed all financial aid requirements.

To access Self Service Carolina and view their bill, students should visit my.sc.edu, sign in with their VIP ID and password, and click on Account Information. The deadline for online payment for the fall is August 22, 2013. Otherwise, the mail-in payment deadline is August 9, 2013. Full details are available at sc.edu/bursar.

With the student account system now up and running, Project Director Bob Swab was eager to put this most recent success in the context of OneCarolina as a whole.

“We have a system for faculty, staff, and students that covers admissions, class registration, financial aid, and now student accounts. I’m beyond thrilled at the progress we’ve made thus far, and I know we’re all anxious to keep moving forward towards our next major project milestone,” he said.
