Registrar unveils site to help users move from VIP to SSC

The Office of the Registrar has established a website dedicated to assisting students, faculty, and staff in the transition from VIP to Self Service Carolina (SSC). The site,, contains video tutorials, sets of frequently asked questions, and even a glossary.

“We thought it important to provide this kind of in-depth information to help our thousands of users as they learn this new system,” said USC Registrar Aaron Marterer. “Given the amount of new terminology we’re introducing, we understand there will likely be some confusion in the coming days and weeks. This is an effort to alleviate some of that.”

Perhaps most importantly is a video instructing students on how to set up their VIP ID and password if they’ve never done so before.

“Signing in to Self Service Carolina requires that student use their VIP ID, an eight-digit number that’s been assigned to them by the university,” said Marterer.

Also available for students is a video explaining how to set up their university email. There are future plans for videos to help with the registration process.

Meanwhile, there are walkthroughs to help faculty and staff with removing advisement holds and processing an override.

The Registrar’s office is asking that users with specific registration or advisement questions to call them at 803-777-5555 or email them at
